What is Tier-Two Scoring?
Tier-Two scoring is a way to score participants in a Cross Country event where the top X number of finishers on Teams are scored against each other, and the participants after X are also scored on Teams against each other. The most common use for this would be running everyone together without Varsity declarations and scoring the first X finishers as Varsity and the next X finishers as Junior Varsity. In this scenario, Tier One is Varsity and Tier Two is Junior Varsity; by using Tier-Two Scoring participants do not need to be moved to a separate Scored Event or Team Type to report results or display JV scores only.
Note that Tier-Two Scoring is only available for Events that have Cross Country Scoring enabled.
How to Set Up Tier-Two Scoring
To set up Tier-Two scoring, go to Scored Events -> Team Scoring
Make sure that "Use Cross Country Scoring" is enabled, then Enable Tier-Two Scoring.
Enabling Tier-Two Scoring opens a second row of Scored Event Depth. This behaves the same as the normal Scored Event Depth (score X, displace through Y) only it starts counting the new depth from a set place on the team. In the below example, Tier-Two begins with the 8th runner on the team.
Reporting on Tier-Two Scoring
When generating reports for Scored Events with Tier-Two Scoring users are prompted to choose Tier-1, Tier-2, or both on the Team Type selection step of building a new report or report section. Users are not able to edit this selection once the step is completed, and will need to either create a new section or new report should the selection of Tiers need updating.
If both Tier-1 and Tier-2 are selected, the second tier of a team will be identified by "TIER 2" prior to the Team Name (see below). If only one Tier is selected for a report this indicator will not appear.
