The RaceDay Scoring integration with AthleticLIVE is available to all timers. We recommend testing it on a low stakes meet before you rely on it for a championship meet.

Note: AthleticLIVE is a separate system from Athletic.NET uploads. You can learn more about creating a file that can be uploaded to Athletic.NET here: Upload Cross Country Results to Athletic.NET

See this guide from Athletic.NET to download the AthleticLOCAL middleware, which is what is used to publish the results created by RaceDay Scoring to AthleticLIVE.

Before you start

  • Team Scoring is set up on your Scored Events with Cross Country scoring enabled. The AthleticLIVE section is not available without it, and it is also unavailable on Scored Events that use Tier-Two Scoring.
  • Each Scored Event has a distance and a start time. AthleticLIVE uses both to describe the race, and it takes the distance from the Scored Event's default segment or from the Entire Race segment.
  • Every athlete has a bib number. Athletes without one are left out of the files.
  • Athletes have a School Year if you want grades to appear in AthleticLIVE.
  • The AthleticLOCAL middleware is installed, using the guide linked above.

To create the files needed for AthleticLOCAL to publish results to AthleticLIVE, you will need to follow these instructions:

Create a Report with Report Sections for each race you would like to publish to AthleticLIVE.

First, go to Reports > Build Report:

Select the first event you would like to include, then add a section for that event by clicking the AthleticLIVE button:

You may or may not need to select a specific Team Type at this point depending on your configuration:

Then clear the event selection, and repeat the process for each Event in your Race.

Once you have added AthleticLIVE sections for each event you want to publish, save the Report.

You will see an AthleticLIVE Auto-Save Settings button appear. Click it to set up the Auto-Save.

Next, set an interval (we recommend 5s) then browse for a folder where the files will be stored. Take note of this location, as it will be used in the AthleticLOCAL configuration as well.

Finally, click Add Stream, then Save Settings (no need to fill out the second instance of "Auto-Save Every" and "Folder Path"),

and your data will begin writing to this location immediately, ready for AthleticLOCAL to read it and publish it to AthleticLIVE.

Confirming that it is working

Open the folder you chose. You should see three files, and RaceDay Scoring rewrites all three at the interval you set:

  • alive_events.txt, one line per race
  • alive_roster.txt, every athlete in your report
  • alive_results.txt, the current results

How your report sections become races in AthleticLIVE

Each report section becomes one race in AthleticLIVE, numbered in the order your sections appear in the report, and named after the section. Athletes are listed once in the roster file even when they appear in more than one section.

How results appear

Runners still on course appear with their current standing, so results build through the race. Split times are included when your Scored Event has segments. Finish times use chip time when the Scored Event is set to score by chip time.

Statuses carry over as follows: DQ appears as DQ, DROP appears as Drop, DNS appears as DNS, and DNF appears with a blank place.

Unattached runners are included in AthleticLIVE sections by default. This is different from the Team Finisher List report, which leaves them out unless you turn on Allow Unattached Participants.

If something does not look right in AthleticLIVE, send us a Get Help ticket from inside RaceDay Scoring.
