This article covers the problems cross country timers report most often, with the setting that resolves each one. For full setup instructions, see Setup Aggregate Teams.

Before you start: Use Cross Country Scoring scores teams by finishing place. The Team Scoring screen does not use the word points, but place based points are what this setting produces.

No points appear in your team report

Two causes account for most of these cases.

• Your athletes are not on teams. The app calculates team points for team members only, so check this first. Add athletes to a team, or generate test reads using athletes who already belong to one. To attach a lot of athletes at once, see Making Bulk Updates to Participants.
• Team Scoring Depth is not set. Set it to By Scored Event, or to By Team Type when Team Types in the same race score differently, then fill in the minimum and maximum numbers. Cross country normally scores through 5 and displaces through 7. Not Used is only available when you score by Average Time.

Unable to rebuild Report. Missing team types.

The full message reads: Unable to rebuild Report: [Report Name]. Missing team types. Update Team Scoring rules on scored event or fix team types.

The report section named in the message has no valid Team Type selected. Edit that report section, select the Team Type or Team Types you want in it, then save.

This usually happens when you built the report before your Team Types existed, or when Team Types changed afterward. Building a new Team Finisher List report and selecting the correct Team Types also clears it. See Separate Reports by Team Type if you want one report per division.

Team results are missing from your online results

• Publish the Report that contains your team standings section, which is a Team Finisher List section for cross country. RunSignup creates the Team Results tab from that Report, and your default team Report already contains what it needs. Publish Aggregate Team Results to RunSignup covers the auto-save.
• Keep the Team Place column in the Report. Removing it prevents the Team Results tab from populating. Keep Team Gender Place as well if you want gender-specific team standings. See Add Columns to a Report Section if either one is missing.
• When Team Scoring Depth varies by Team Type, publish a separate result set for that Team Type so the correct depth appears online. Separate Reports by Team Type walks through this.
• If a team exists on RunSignup but never appears in RaceDay Scoring, edit the team name to force a participant sync.
• If the report looks right but nothing reaches RunSignup, work through Troubleshooting Auto-Saves to RunSignup.

Unattached athletes are missing from results or exports

Team Finisher List sections exclude unattached athletes by default. Edit the report, open Filters & Sorts, and check Allow Unattached Participants.

This also affects your Athletic.NET file, because that export comes from the Team Finisher List report. Unattached athletes still appear on your overall results, which makes the gap easy to miss.

You cannot create a team report yet

Your race needs at least one team before you can create some team reports. If you want to build reports weeks ahead of entries, add one team so the report options become available.

Genders score together, or split when they should not

Separate Report Sections By Gender applies only when more than one gender runs together in a single race and you want them scored separately.

• Each gender scores independently. First place in each gender earns first place points.
• Every report section you add for that Scored Event splits into a section per gender automatically.
• Selecting only one gender's teams for a report leaves an empty section for the other gender.
• Auto-saves create one stream per section, so confirm RunSignup receives every section you expect. Troubleshooting Auto-Saves to RunSignup covers what to check.

Do not use this setting when genders have separate start times or separate Scored Events. If you want one combined ranking instead, use a display filter on gender. Your customized reports disappeared after saving Team Scoring

Saving Team Scoring rules deletes the reports for that Scored Event. Your default reports come back automatically, but customized reports do not, so anything you built by hand has to be built again.

Imported athletes are not attached to their teams

• Map the Team Type column during import. If your file has no Team Type column, map to an existing Team Type or create one during the import. See Import Participants from a CSV.
• Import athletes into RaceDay Scoring directly when your file carries team data.
• After a large import, open a team and confirm its members are attached before you build reports.
• To repair assignments without starting over, map a RunSignup Registration ID or a RaceDay Scoring Participant ID and re-import. That updates the matching athletes instead of adding new ones. See Making Bulk Updates to Participants.
